Three “Ramble” Weekends in September – 10th & 11th; 17th & 18th; 24th & 25th
The Hudson River Valley Ramble celebrates the history, culture and natural resources of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area as well as the amazing landscape, local communities and trails throughout the region. The annual Ramble takes place over three weekends in September. “Ramblers” come not only from the Hudson River Valley region and the tri-state area, but from other areas of the country as well, to discover the riches our Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area has to offer.

“Ramble” Weekends at the Van Wyck Homestead Museum – Fishkill, New York
Our Museum is located at the junction of Route 9 and I-84 exit 13.Van Wyck Homestead’s driveway entrance is off Snook Road just east of Route 9.
Sept. 10th & 11th – Dutch Heritage Weekend
Our Fishkill Historical Society will be participating in the Dutch Heritage weekend since the Van Wyck Homestead is an old Dutch colonial house. Our Museum will be open for tours from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, and we will be offering Dutch food and “Dutch Treats” to visitors.
Sept. 17th & 18th – Revolutionary War Weekend
The Fishkill Historical Society and Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot will co-sponsor a Revolutionary War weekend dedicated to the thousands of Continental Soldiers and Militia Regiments who were stationed at the Fishkill Supply Depot (1776 - 1783). Revolutionary War re-enactors – 5th New York Regiment including a Cavalry Officer – will have an encampment at the Van Wyck Homestead Museum on Saturday. The Hudson River Ramblers will have two performances on Sunday. Our Museum and grounds will be open from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Sunday. Sept. 24th & 25th – Third “Ramble” Weekend
On Sunday, Sept. 25th members of our FHS Spinners and Weavers group will be at our Van Wyck Homestead Museum demonstrating colonial era spinning & weaving. Some Vendors will also be on the property for a “Wool & Craft Show” – they will also be performing demonstrations and they’ll have completed items for sale to visitors. Our historic Van Wyck Homestead Museum will be open for Guided Tours as usual both days: 1:00 - 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 24th, and from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 25th

Annual Craft Boutique – Thanksgiving Weekend
The Fishkill Historical Society's Holiday Shopping Oasis – 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
November 26th & 27th – Craft Boutique Weekend Fund raiser. (See Past Events Photos).
Our 17th annual Craft Boutique – the Fishkill Historical Society’s Holiday Shopping Oasis at a time of shopping frenzy and chaos – is happening on November 26th and November 27th from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. We have a total of 13 vendors – juried craftspeople who have been invited to our event to offer their wares including jewelry, stained glass, soy candles, vintage style purses, pottery, aromatherapy items, framed photographs, decorative baskets and much more. There are four vendors that are new to the Craft Boutique this year. Many of our vendors are members of the Hudson Valley Artistsan's Guild. In addition to all of the vendors, the Fishkill Historical Society's Gift Shop will have special gifts and holiday items available during the Craft Boutique weekend.
After shopping at our Craft Boutique shoppers can have lunch in the c.1732 kitchen of our Van Wyck Homestead Museum where Fishkill Historical Society volunteers will be serving homemade soups and chili as well as a plethora of baked goods and our famous made-to-order Apple Fritters.
Santa Claus is coming on Sunday, November 27th in his antique sled from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. You can have your picture taken with Santa in his sleigh for a donation to our Fishkill Historical Society of only $10.00; mom, dad, and grandparents – can all be in the picture (no age limit). You’ll receive a 5”x7” photo and, upon request, the photographer, Steve Lynch, will E-Mail the picture(s) to you and give you permission to make Holiday Greeting cards – a great personal keepsake !
Please support your Fishkill Historical Society by supporting this important and successful fundraiser. The Craft Boutique is a great place to take your out-of-town guests that are visiting over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.

Craft Boutique – Huge Success! There were 13 Vendors at our 15th Annual Craft Boutique at our Van Wyck Homestead the weekend after Thanksgiving. Saturday was very very windy – with wind gusts up to 55 mph – but it didn’t stop FHS members and other visitors from stopping in and shopping. Read more...

Yard Sale – Saturday, May 14th – 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
The Fishkill Historical Society is holding our annual Yard Sale fundraiser on Saturday, May 14th – 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM – the same date as the village-wide yard sale in the Village of Fishkill. Individuals and families who plan on walking around the Village to pick up bargains, should come first to the Yard Sale at the Van Wyck Homestead Museum between 8:00 - 10:00 AM, and then go to the Village of Fishkill’s Yard Sale at 10:00 AM.
“River of Dreams” Guest Speaker & Book Signing – Sunday May 15th 2:00 PM
The Fishkill Historical Society is proud to sponsor a book-signing presentation at our Van Wyck Homestead Museum headquarters in Fishkill on Sunday, May 15th at 2:00 PM.
Hudson Talbot will give a talk on his illustrated book “River of Dreams: The Story of the Hudson River”. From the time he could pick up a pencil, he has been interested in drawing and creative expression. The Hudson River has been a source of inspiration and a means of livelihood to all who have lived along its shores. It played a key role in the settling of the New World and the outcome of the Revolutionary War, and was the birthplace of the environmental movement.

Saturday, June 4th – Museum opens for tours for the 2011 Tourist Season.
Monday, July 4th – Picnic at 1:00 PM for all Fishkill Historical Society members following the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence in the Village of Fishkill at 11:00 AM.
